New Hope focuses exclusively on courses required for high school graduation. Students are enrolled only in the academic courses necessary to meet state and district graduation requirements.
We do not offer traditional elective courses. The only elective available is Art, as it fulfills a graduation requirement. Our program is designed to prioritize essential coursework and help students stay focused on earning their diploma.
New Hope is designed for motivated students who meet specific eligibility requirements. To be considered for enrollment, students must meet the following criteria:
Be currently enrolled in one of Leander ISD’s traditional high schools and in their third year of high school or beyond. (Students applying during the summer must have completed at least three years of high school and been enrolled in Leander ISD at the end of the previous school year.)
Have earned a minimum of 13 state credits toward graduation.
Be at least 16 years old and willing to take responsibility for maintaining strong attendance, academic progress, and appropriate conduct.
Demonstrate reading and math skills at or above a 9th-grade level and be capable of working in a guided, independent-study environment within the general education curriculum.
Have an academic need and/or life circumstance that would make an alternative, self-paced learning environment a better fit.
Be committed to earning a high school diploma.
No. New Hope is not an open enrollment campus. Students must first be enrolled at one of Leander ISD’s traditional high school campuses.
Interested students must then complete the New Hope application and interview process. Admission is based on eligibility requirements and a determination that New Hope is an appropriate placement for the student.
