Important Dates
First Day of the 2009-2010 School Year is Monday, August 24, 2009. Welcome Back!

New students and returning students who have been invited to enroll or continue enrollment at NHHS for the 2009-2010 school year will be receiving a letter and enrollment packet mid August.

Any LISD high school student who meets the below criteria listed under "NHHS Information Sessions" and is interested in applying to NHHS should start this process as soon as possible with his or her current LISD HS campus counselor.


NHHS Information Sessions

Are you currently enrolled and attending one of Leander ISD's high schools?

Are you interested in applying to New Hope HS?

Do you or will you have at least 13 credits or more by the time you apply to NHHS?

Are you at least 16 years old?

Will your attendance hours owed be recovered and credits restored by the time you apply to NHHS?

Can you or have you demonstrated reading and math skills at a 9th grade level or higher?

Do you have an academic and/or life circumstance need in which you think an alternative, self paced, learning environment might better serve you?

If you answered yes to ALL the above, then perhaps you and one of your parents would like to attend a NHHS general information session hosted at NHHS campus.

NHHS Summer Session June 9, 2009- July 16, 2009
Summer session registration forms for current NHHS and newly accepted NHHS students are now available.

Dates: June 9, 2009-July 16, 2009, Mondays-Thursdays

Times: 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Students are expected to attend a minimum of 4 hours each day. Those wanting to accomplish more should stay longer!

Cost: $50 deposit, refundable at the end of the session if student meets attendance requirements that are outlined on the application.

July TAKS Retesting Dates
At NHHS for NHHS students only.
Testing will begin at 9 am each day.
July 14th, Tues.- English Language Arts
July 15th, Wed. - Math
July 16th, Thurs.- Science
July 17th, Fri.- Social Studies

Financial Aid
Now is the time to be completing Free Application for Federal Student Aide (FAFSA). This information is based on the student and parents' 2008 Tax Return information and is used to determine financial aide monies for college Fall 2009-July 2010.

Bad Weather Information
On occasions of possible hazardous road conditions, the Transportation Department will check the roads. The Superintendent will make a decision as to whether to delay school starting times, cancel school, dismiss classes, or proceed as usual with school. Austin area radio and television stations will be notified should school be canceled, delayed or dismissed. Parents and students are asked to tune in to any local station for the latest information.

In addition, bad weather information for Leander ISD schools, will be posted on the district website at www.leanderisd.org.

Selective Service
18 year old males need to remember to register with Selective Service in order to be eligible for Student Loans for College, government jobs, and to keep a driver's license. It only takes a moment: www.sss.gov
